The Psychology and Neuroscience of the Menopausal Years - What Health Practitioners Need to Know

The Psychology and Neuroscience of the Menopausal Years

What Health Practitioners Need to Know

If you are a health practitioner who works with late 30 to mid 50 year old clients/patients with a menstrual history, then this webinar is relevant to your clinical practice.

If your client knows they’re in perimenopause, you’ll likely hear about her fatigue, terrible sleep, hot flushes, night sweats, weight gain, poor memory and mood swings.

If they don’t, you might hear some of those things but not necessarily all of them, or the myriad of other ‘symptom’s’ of perimenopause that they just don’t think to mention but are impacting their health and wellbeing.

And … unless you have time with your client/patient to really ‘dig deep’ and know (yourself) what to look for, you will likely not hear about the significant unrest they are experiencing internally in relation to who they are, how they are feeling about themselves and the various parts/people in their lives.

If you are able to tune in, you’ll hear things like - ‘I don’t know myself anymore’, ‘this is not like me’ ‘I don’t want this [job, life, responsibilities, partner] anymore but I don’t know what I want’. ‘I’m tired. I’m irritable and fly off the handle or burst into tears.’ ‘I just want space. I just don’t want to have to do ‘all the things’ for everyone else anymore.’

So, if this information is new to you OR you’re aware of some (or all of it) and you want to know more so you can better understand and support your clients/patients (regardless of your health profession) then you do really need to join us!

This 2-hour webinar will cover;

  • neurobiology over the lifespan with attention to our hormones - puberty, pregnancy/childbirth and peri/menopause

  • stages, symptoms and treatment

  • mental health issues during the menopausal years (the difference between ‘typical’ depression and menopausal depression),

  • the psychological shifts within Self that characterise the perimenopausal years

  • the vulnerabilities and opportunities that this neurobiological stage of life creates

The information provided is all evidenced based (we’ll be talking about the research) with de-identified case studies to share the nuances of this journey and support your learning and understanding.
